Devon is a software developer who will graduate from University of Calgary with a BSc in Computer Science. He has experience in mobile software development and experimental toolchains such as Kotlin Multiplatform, and a strong interest in backend development. He also a has a strong interest in the design of programming languages and other development tools, and enjoys ice skating in the winter.
Roger has been building data analytic teams and platforms since the mid ’90s, including stints at Sybase, San Francisco Opera, QAD, Columbia Pictures, and others. At O'Reilly, Roger built the data infrastructure, integrating internal and external data sources, and data team to help identify technology adoption trends and behavior analysis. Roger also served as co-chair for the O'Reilly Strata conference. During the pandemic, Roger served on a COVID Insights task force for the State of California and worked on a text-mining project to make historic science data more available on behalf of a non-profit — the work was featured in the journal “Nature.”
Jeremie is a Machine Learning Engineer at Shakudo, with experience developing deep learning techniques to solve bioinformatics problems. Previous work includes dialogue systems for automated agents at Microsoft and peptide identification by deep learning at IRIC.
Yujian is a Developer Advocate at Zilliz, the team behind Milvus, the world's most popular open-source vector database. During college, he interned at nCino and researched machine learning, publishing two papers. After joining Amazon, he contributed to generating $2.5MM with automated machine learning lifecycle systems, and since wears many more hats such as senior software engineer, full stack developer, technical evangelist, and blogger.
David is an experienced technology leader and entrepreneur in the artificial intelligence and behavioral health industries. Prior to his role at CentralReach, David was CEO and Co-Founder of Chartlytics, a precision teaching software platform acquired by CentralReach, and previously founded Conduit, an enterprise software company.
Yevgeniy is an experienced leader and entrepreneur in the artificial intelligence industry. Prior to establishing Shakudo, Yevgeniy built applied AI and machine learning product groups at Bank of Montreal, Borealis AI (RBC), Georgian Partners and worked closely with startups to introduce applied research into their products.
Christine is an experienced applied machine learning developer with a focus on NLP and semi-supervised learning. She has developed and delivered AI solutions into production at Deloitte and BMO, including automatic contract annotation, customer feedback analysis, and customer referral models. Christine has an MSc of Applied Computing from the University of Toronto, with a focus on statistics and machine learning.
Jim Orlando is the Managing Partner of Wittington Ventures. Prior to Wittington, Jim was Managing Partner of OMERS Ventures, where he led investments in Shopify, DuckDuckGo, Wattpad, and Jobber. Earlier in his career, Jim held roles at OMERS Private Equity, Battery Ventures, and Bell Canada Ventures, and had operational roles at Nortel Networks. Jim holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Computer Engineering from McMaster University.
Ben is a full-stack developer who graduated from Carleton University with a Bachelors of Engineering in Software. Ben has experience working in backend development centering on data analytics and has moved to a full-stack role with a larger focus on front-end development.
Yiran is a backend software developer who graduated from the University of Toronto. In his previous internship in AISPEECH, he improved and enhanced the performance of Baidu's and Xiaomi's AI voice assistants. In addition, Yiran has experience in several computer imagination and AI agents projects.
Arshia is a full-stack software developer with experience in web development and design. Arshia has built several web applications focusing on user-centred design. Arshia graduated from Ryerson University with a bachelor in Computer Science
Ian Watt earned his Masters of Engineering from McGill University for work in deep reinforcement learning for medical image registration and his Bachelors in Mechatronics Engineering from Western University. Prior to joining Shakudo, Ian worked on projects in bioinformatics, robotics, and 3d printing.
Albert is a multi-disciplinary designer focused on creating meaningful and pleasant experiences. In the past, Albert has had a wide array of experience in design, from establishing the visual identity for a freelancing startup to product visualizations for an international home design company. Albert graduated from Carleton University with a bachelor's in industrial design with a business minor.
Yulia is a business operations manager with experience in full-cycle B2D sales and marketing. Yulia graduated from the UBC Sauder School of Business with a bachelor's in commerce and a minor in sustainability and social impact.
Sabrina is a creative Software Developer who has managed to create a huge community by sharing her personal experiences with technologies and products. A great problem solver, an above average Age of Empires II player and a mediocre Linux user. Sabrina is currently an undergraduate in Computer Engineering at UFRN (Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte).
Robert Barrios is the Chief Information Officer at E. & J. Gallo Winery, one of the world's largest wine and spirits companies. He leads an organization of 300+ in IT and oversees Lean Six Sigma, Business Agility, and Decision Science teams. Previously, Robert held senior leadership roles at Oracle, including VP of Cloud Services Software Engineering and VP of Global IT Service Operations. He is a Bay Area ORBIE Awards nominee and serves on the Sierra Ventures CXO Advisory Board. Robert holds a BS in Business Administration with a focus in Computer Information Systems from Cal Poly Pomona.
